laura mercier silk creme foundation review

It took me so long to write a full review of the famous Laura Mercier Silk Creme foundation. I had this tube for around a year and kept on using it on and off and for the past 1,5month I have been using it every day purely to use it up and get rid of the foundation. I been observing how it behaves on the skin after few hours of wear, lets get straight to the point.

COLOUR: The colour match is amazing, normally I'm the palest shade with every brand. My Laura Mercier Silk Creme foundation shade is Soft Ivory. It's a yellow base foundation.
FORMULA/TEXTURE: The foundation is very creamy and thick.
APPLICATION: I tried so many techniques of applying this foundation, the best one so far is applying it with a wet sponge. Applying with fingers just doesn't work, as the foundation just won't stay in place, if you keep on rubbing it, unless you pat it in, I would say you could make it work. The brush again didn't work for me either.
COVERAGE: I would day medium to full coverage and you must remember that you only need to apply a little bit. If you apply to much, the foundation just won't stay on the skin. I tried building it up, to receive much more fuller coverage but it just didn't work.
LASTING POWER: I am really disappointed to say, that this is the worst foundation, when it comes to lasting power. After two hours my face was shiny, the foundation was in my pores. Everything have came off my oily nose, as well as every time I touched my face with my finger I ended up with foundation on my finger. Whenever I wear foundation, I just like it to stay in place like it's glued, I dislike when a foundation keeps on moving around on my face. I tried to use it with different primers, but nothing seems to work.
OVERALL OPINION: At first I really liked the foundation, but after a longer period of time and testing, I started to dislike it. It's overpriced for what it is. There are a lot more better foundation to try out.

Did you have a chance to try out the Laura Mercier Silk Creme foundation? What is your opinion on it?

  2. Fab review, I’ve been tempted by this foundation for some time now. In a way I’m glad that I read this though as I’m after something that has decent lasting power and I don’t like the sound of this ending up on your finger :(

  3. I'm always the very palest shade too, to the point where I don't even try any other foundations apart from No7 calico as it's a perfect match for me! Disappointed to hear that the lasting power isn't very good considering it's such a high end brand in my opinion! cottonandcandie xx

  6. Oh, sorry to hear that this didn't last long on you! Would you say you have an oily skin type? I believe LM does a matte foundation so maybe test that rather than the luminous version. Great review! xx

  7. It's a shame you didn't get on with this foundation in the end because I really like it. I particularly like wearing it with the Bourjois Healthy Mix x
